Reviews the book, 'Confronting obstacles to inclusion: International responses to developing inclusive education' edited by Richard Rose (2010). The chapters is organized under six sections, aiming to provide a balanced picture of key dimensions of inclusion: (1) causes of exclusion and obstacles to inclusion, (2) supporting families, (3) pupils as partners in inclusive education, (4) professional developments for inclusion, (5) teaching and learning, and (6) support in the classroom. The authors are successful in maintaining the reader's interest by elaborating on their research projects and the interrelated arguments and ideas in constructive ways and by writing in language that is accessible to international audience. The strength of the book relies in the variety of international voices engaging with important aspects of inclusive education, enabling the readers to use the book as the starting point for interpreting the state of art in their own culture. The conclusion of the book is quite brief and does not engage in a discussion about the important issues raised from the authors. The book is a valuable tool for all reflective readers who are interested in making sense of the tensions of inclusion worldwide and drawing the connections with ideas, trends and practices taking place in their own contexts.
