The performance of Chebyshev spectral methods for solving nonlinear two-point boundary value problems is tested on several such problems arising in heat transfer. The collocation and the Galerkin spectral formulations are examined in detail and their various computational aspects compared. The accuracy of these methods is compared with that of standard software packages on a number of problems which appear in the literature. © 1988.en
