In the reception and transmission of radio signals it is often required to match an antenna to its feed line over a wide frequency band. In order to achieve this, many techniques have been proposed which address the underlying problem of matching two arbitrary impedances over a certain bandwidth. The fundamental limitations on the matching bandwidth have been outlined by Bode [1] and Fano [2], and have been further investigated in part by Wheeler [3], [4], Matthaei, Young and Jones [5], Hansen [6] and Lopez [7], [8]. © 2010 IEEE.
