This paper studies wireless power transfer for distributed estimation in the context of millimeter-wave (mmWave) communication networks. Specifically, a mmWave wireless powered communication network is considered, where an access point employs a random beamforming technique to transfer energy to the sensors of a randomly selected sector of the cell. Each sensor harvests and stores energy in its battery, which is used to power its uplink transmission, if the stored energy exceeds a predefined threshold. This scenario is investigated from a large-scale point-of-view, where spatial randomness is considered with the aid of Poisson point processes. The performance of the network is described in terms of the sensors' energy outage probability and the achievable mean-square error of the estimation.
