| dc.description.abstract | In dogs endocrine function and morphology of intraperitoneal segmental pancreas grafts with the duct left open, the duct injected with Neoprene, and pancreaticoureterostomy were compared 1 year after transplantation. Graft function in the open duct group appeared to be better than in the other two groups, although the differences were not statistically significant. The grafts with open ducts had the best appearance on histologic examination at 1 year. Inflammatory reactions were still apparent in Neoprene-injected grafts. Pancreaticoureterostomy had a high local complication rate, and patency of the anastomosis did not correlate with endocrine function. In conclusion, intraperitoneal transplantation of grafts with open ducts is the best of the three techniques. | en |
