A spectral element scheme is presented for the solution of second- and fourth-order problems in two and three space dimensions. This scheme is based on a collocation formulation and, for a certain class of problems, results in spectral approximations which are C1 pointwise continuous across the element interfaces for second-order problems, and C3 pointwise continuous across the element interfaces for fourth-order problems. © 1995.en
