Ionization currents and free ion yields have been measured as a function of the applied electric field in tetramethylgermanium and tetramethylin exposed to energetic gamma rays, and in binary mixtures of 2,2,4,4 tetramethylpentane, tetramethylsilane, tetramethylgermanium and tetramethyltin. The ion yields in tetramethylgermanium and tetramethyltin are high, making these room temperature liquids interesting candidates for use in liquid ionization detectors. © 1990.en
