A hot metal gas stamping process of an ultra-high strength steel tube has been investigated using a coupled thermal-electrical finite element analysis. In this process, a quenchable air filled steel tube was quickly heated by resistance heating and compressed by a V-shape die at room temperature. In addition, a hot tensile test of the heated tube was simulated by this method to verify the calculated results. It was shown that the results were in good agreement. It was found that the cooling rate in the die quenching of the air filled tube is increased by increasing the internal pressure.
