dc.description.abstract | We present recent developments in the laboratory component of MAP - Modular Approach to Physics – Java enhanced modules to be used as aids in teaching the first three terms of university physics. The MAP project is very comprehensive and consists of a modular approach to physics that utilizes Java applets; Flash animations and html based tutorials. The overall instructional philosophy of MAP is constructivist and the project emphasizes active learner participation. In this talk we will provide a quick overview of the project and the results of recent pilot testing at several Canadian universities. Special emphasis in this presentation will be given to the use of the videolab aspect of MAP. This is a component that is integrated into MAP and permits students to capture and evaluate otherwise difficult to study phenomena on video. | en |
