Computer Based Learning (CBL) can have great potential if used appropriately to enhance the quality of science education. However, this quality can be enhanced even further with the use of Computer Based Testing (CBT), and more specifically, with Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT). For the purpose of this paper, the author will describe how computer adaptive testing works, as well as its advantages in relationship to how it can improve the CBL process in the subject area of science. Some limitations and issues that educators need to take into consideration before implementing a science education CAT will also be discussed.en
