Context is an important aspect to computing, especially in mobile computing. The context can be used to adapt the user interaction with an application, or provide general services and information to the user. Computers cannot offer this kind of information regarding the conditions, in which the communication act occurs, which means they cannot think in context. For this reason, context-aware application becomes important.
The introduction of powerful mobile devices has raised the potential of building novel context-aware applications. Such applications let the users enjoy a better experience by sensing their context and automating tasks that would otherwise require significant user attention.
This thesis presents a context-aware application, built on top of a presented middleware system. By describing the development steps, we reveal how development of a context-aware application using middleware system becomes easier for developers; relieving them from having to develop and mesh such code in their apps. It is shown that this approach reduces the required development and maintenance effort and thus lowers the associated cost.
