n-Type PbTe compounds were synthesized at temperatures as low as 430 C. After synthesis, the materials were ground, cold pressed and sintered at 600 C. The effect of this low-temperature synthesis on the structural features and thermoelectric properties of as-prepared and PbI2-doped materials was investigated for the first time. The Seebeck coefficient and electrical and thermal conductivity were measured in the temperature range 2 K ≤ T ≤ 610 K. The results show that all materials exhibit n-type conduction and the thermoelectric properties are improved by doping. ZT values reach 0.5 at 610 K and the discrepancies with the literature are discussed. © 2013 TMS.

Origin of the stabilization of the metastable tetragonal high-pressure phase in SrCuO2 thin films grown on SrTiO3 substrates by pulsed laser deposition Mihailescu, C. N.; Pasuk, I.; Straticiuc, M.; Nita, C. R.; Pantelica, D.; Giapintzakis, John (2014)In this work we have systematically investigated the evolution of structure and stoichiometry in SrCuO2 films grown on TiO2-terminated SrTiO3 substrates as a function of the substrate temperature. Depending on the growth ...
Ioannou, M.; Chrissafis, K.; Pavlidou, E.; Gascoin, F.; Kyratsi, Theodora (2013)In this work, a short duration ball-milling of elemental Mg and Si followed by a thermal treatment is suggested in order to synthesize magnesium silicide via solid-state reaction. The formation of magnesium silicide was ...
Singh, D. P.; Polychronopoulou, K.; Rebholz, Claus; Aouadi, S. M. (2010)We report the room temperature (RT) synthesis of silver vanadate nanorods (consisting of mainly β-AgVO3) by a simple wet chemical route and their frictional study at high temperatures (HT). The sudden mixing of ammonium ...
