This paper focuses on adapting Web environments based on cognitive factors of users. In particular, a semantic Web-based adaptation framework is proposed that enables authors to enrich Web content with semantic markups, which are further processed and reconstructed by an adaptation mechanism based on cognitive factors of users. With the aim to study the effect of cognitive factors on the adaptation of Web content, a user study has been conducted with 37 participants providing interesting insights with respect to the effect of adaptation in terms of user satisfaction while interacting with an adapted and a non-adapted version of the same Web environment. © 2012 IEEE.
