dc.description.abstractThe recognition of electrospinning as one of the most promising top-down approaches in the fabrication of one-dimensional (1D) nanofibrous materials exhibiting high potential for use in many industrial applications has directed academic and industrial research efforts towards the advancement of this process. Encroachment of traditional electrospinning involves system modification approaches in order to achieve high nanofiber production rates, as well as better control over the nanofiber's diameter, morphology and degree of alignment, while reducing both production and maintenance costs. This chapter highlights several modification approaches applied to the conventional electrospinning set-up, aiming to increase nanofiber production and gain control over the deposition, orientation, and morphology of the electrospun nanofibers.en
