Information mechanisms tend
to adopt new forms in order to adjust
their functions in the overwhelming
power of the Web. The Television Vs
Web ‘competition’ brings ahead several
effects, especially when it comes to
youngsters. The paper examines these
effects and, through them, the differences
in the information mechanisms (promoting and enhancing information
gaining and opinions development)
exploited by the two dominant mass
media of the 21st century. The results
indicate that the source of information
(TV – Web) plays a minor role in the
formation of critical arguments and
highlight the importance to integrate the
use of the two media.
