The article presents a response to the ideas presented in the essay "I Am the Missing Pages of the Text I Teach: Gadamer and Derrida on Teacher Authority," by Charles Bingham, published in the December 2001 issue of "Philosophy of Education Yearbook." The author approaches Bingham's essay as a deconstructionist critique of critical pedagogy, exploring the possibility whether it is prejudiced against tradition. A situation of apparent aporia is reached between the authoritarian nature of the teacher on the one hand and that of the authority challenging student.
