dc.description.abstractThis paper describes the work in progress of the European Commission DG XXII Education, Training and Youth Leonardo da Vinci programme Health Telematics Training Network (HEALTHNET) (Project No: CY/97/2/00988/PI/II.l.l.c/CONT). The project's overall objective is the development of a health telematics training package, as well as the networking of the health institutes involveden
dc.description.abstractthus facilitating the advancement of the effectiveness of tele working in the health sector. The project will have impact primarily on the improvement of human resources in the health sector in the context of lifelong learning and the direct beneficiaries of the project will mainly be physicians. The project will last 36 months and it will be implemented in three phases through the following six workpackages (WP's) (each phase has two WP's): WP1 Assessment of existing infrascructure (0-6 months), WP2 Analysis of training needs and networking specifications (7-11 months), WP3 Development of multimedia based training methodology and network development and testing (12-18 months), WP4 Implementation of multimedia teleworking training modules and training software (19-27 months),WP5 Training of trainers and pilot application of the training software (28-32 months), WP6 Evaluation and exploitation. The partnership of the project is as follows: University of Cyprus, Ministry of Health of Cyprus, Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics, Pancyprian Medical Association, the Balear Government with the University of Balearic Island, Spain, Institut de Medicine & Physiologie Spatiales, France, and Institute of Computer Science Foundation for Research and Technology, Greece. It is anticipated that the project will contribute towards the better delivery of healthcare through the advancement of health telematics.en
