This announcement likes in the framework of DTS and aspires at engaging in the dialogue concerning the search for a translatorial sociology. The claim made is that despite the fact that the translator takes into consideration the norms of the time, what actually influences his translational choices is in effect his habitus. Konstantinos Theotokis (1872-1923) translated Shakespeare's Hamlet in 1916, but his TT was not published until 1977. The reason why his translation remained practically unpublished for more than sixty years is his deviation from the norm of his time. Theotokis opted for a localized Hamlet as a result of his habitus. Initially, the TT is contextualized in the framework of a macrolevel analysis in order to substantiate causation of Theotokis' translational choices. Furthermore, an attempt is made as to the reasons behind the discrepancy between his reception as an original writer and as a translator. Finally, a short presentation is made of some of his microlevel choices in the above light, encompassing facets such as register, neologism, cultural elements, and characterisation.en
