In this article, according to the approach of "data driven learning" (Johns 1991), we show the impact of
a parallel French-Greek online corpus, which is used to teach non-computer specialists to learn
argumentative written expression. We present the contents of the online corpus, then we show the
results of an experiment carried out with students (an undergraduate class of French as Foreign
Language at the University of Cyprus). The aim of this teaching unit was to strengthen students' written
production. Specifically, in this experiment, the students had to write a text which included specific
adverbs expressing the modalisation of the assertion such as assurément, certainement, effectivement
using the SOURCe corpus. At the end of this experiment, a survey was conducted to gather information
on the evaluation of the bilingual online corpus and students' opinion during this procedure.
